I have a book called "Addergoole- It's Land and its people"
On page 262 it mentions that the author read a ledger belonging to Charles Knox's Steward, Stephan Colleran for the year 1876-77.....it lists "people with cattle, sheep and horses grazing on the mountains...and the amounts they were charged", for the townlands that C. Knox was the Landlord one being Ballytigue, this is written....
Horses - John Forrestal - 1 mare 1pound 5 shillings
In the Census of 1901 there is a John Forrestal living in Cloondaff which is in Glenhest...there is a paragraph which states..."Bridget Forrestal, daughter of John was a dressmaker"
For the Tithe Applotments 1823, -37 it says the land in Ballyteige was divided, "Widow Forristol paid ?3 , also a Luke Forristol, James Forristol, Patrick Forristol, each paying ?1. 10 shillings
http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…
In Griffiths 1850 there is a John Forrestal, Snr ?1. 12 shillings, Catherine Forrestal (Pat) ?1 5 shilling, Catherine Forrestal (Martin) ?1 12 shillings.
In 1861 Knox Rental There is a Catherine Forrestal ?3 6 shillings, John Forrestal Jnr ?8 10 shillings
Re; Doocher, the name might be Dooher
I don't know if any of the above names would be helpful for you, but Glenhest is the half parish of Newport and Islandeady.

turlough thanks for the asistance
In Griffiths 1850 there is a John Forrestal, Snr £1. 12 shillings, Catherine Forrestal (Pat) £1 5 shilling, Catherine Forrestal (Martin) £1 12 shillings. turlough do you have a townland for these griffiths forrestals
In 1861 Knox Rental There is a Catherine Forrestal £3 6 shillings, John Forrestal Jnr £8 10 shillings turlough do you have a estate name for these rentals
In the Census of 1901 there is a John Forrestal living in Cloondaff which is in Glenhest...there is a paragraph which states..."Bridget Forrestal, daughter of John was a dressmaker"
my census 1901 has mary forrestal as a widow so unless this john is a son or grand uncle of the family i dont know where he slots into the family picture
I don't know if any of the above names would be helpful for you, but Glenhest is the half parish of Newport and Islandeady
turlough i got the parish of islandeady but on looking up parishes of mayo on the ireland xo site it does not give a parish of newport which other parish should i use from the parish names they have listed on the site once again thanks for the help given

Newport is in Burrishoole Parish, but close to Glenhest so I think the Family are probably connected
Forrestals in Burishoole (these seem to be living in Newport town- which would be Newport Union as is mentioned in your post)
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNam…
The only Dooher's I can find in Griffiths are in Kifian and in Killasser, the former one being the most likely one, as Crossmolina borders Newport.

1901 Census (if you look at this link for the townland in Glenhest, they show that the Forrestal families all lived in this area
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Mayo/Glenkest/
Ballyteige (Martin) Forrestal
Braeklagh you have a Dooher young boy
Claggarnagh East Forristal
Cloondaff Forristal
Gortnaheltia Forrestal (I think this is Martin Snr)
Looks like the same families in Glenhest in 1911
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Mayo/Glenhest/
This is a great site for records/gravestones in North Mayo, where the Dooher's may have come from
Use the search facility, also check out the home page for site map

My cousin is a descendant of John Forrestal and Mary Doocher.John forrestal was from Ballytigue, Glenhest, Newport, Co. Mayo and Mary from Bracklagh, Glenhest. Glenhest is in the Parish of Addergoole and the records for that parish are kept in Lahardaun Parochial house.
Forrestals lived beside the local Cemetery of Annagh in Ballytigue and were the caretakers there.

Hi William
I have spoken to my cousin and she has no information on the Doocher name and was not aware of any other family by that name(or of a similar spelling) living in the locality. Sorry I can not be of help.

William
There is a surname Dougher here in Mayo in1901
Looks like they were gone from this area in 1901
Forrestals are also buried in Addergoole, Lahardane
