We've search 29 years for the Galway parish of my Cullen ancestors with no luck.
My GreatGrandfather, Michael Cullen was born in Galway in 1801. He married Mary Jennings, born 1806.
Their children were : Thomas Cullen, born Galway in 1833; Mary Cullen born Galway in 1834, Martin F.Cullen born in Galway in 1837 and Michael Joseph Cullen born Galway November 14, 1847.
The family moved to Sheffield, England about 1855 and appear in the 1861 and 1871 England Census Reports for Sheffield.
Thomas Cullen ( b. 1833) married Mary Molloy of County Mayo , probably in Mayo. They lived there for 2 years before joining the Cullen family in Sheffield. Their first born, Thomas Cullen was born in Mayo.
My problem is that I cannot pinpoint a parish for Ireland XO to focus upon.
Can anyone help??

Hello Ed,
Have you tried www.rootsireland.ie. this contains most of the church records for the country. www.irishgenealogy.ie contains much of the other counties.
After searching for 29 years, it begs the question about your dates. Most people when they emigrated were uneducated, undocumented and had never seen their name written down anywhere. At port of arrival their names were written phonetically and their ages were only guessed.
Many people have made the mistake of going by dates on a tombstone and taking them as gospel. On most occasions I have found that these dates are only a guideline.
I looked briefly for a marriage record for MIchael Cullen and Mary Jennings, but couldn't find one. Have you tried different variations of the name? I found many Cullens in Co. Kilkenny.
The name Jennings is not common, have you looked at the records for norther Ireland. What information have you got that Galway is the county to be searched?
I'm just playing the devil's advocate here and trying to open up other possibilities.
Hope this may help in some way,
Regards,
Anne
