Hello!
I am looking to find out information about my great great grandmother Honora Mullaney. I know from a newspaper obituary from New York that she was born in County Mayo in about 1845 and her death record indicates that her mother was Mary Gilbride/Gilride and her father was William Mullaney but the handwriting is hard to decipher so these names may be slightly wrong. She left Ireland in about 1860 and came to the United States.
Any help would be greatly appreicated!

Hi Carolyn,
I've had a look for Honora on ancestry and rootsireland.
ancestry has the family tree done by Comber and lists the birth as June 1845 Mayo with the parents Mary Gilbride and William Mullany.
On rootsireland, however, the closest I could find was an 1846 christening in Cork. However, the parents' names don't match! The parents' marriage wasn't there either.
The name Gilbride was common as was Kilbride.
Honora arrived in New York on the Victory on 26th July 1861 and her age is given as 20.
I've checked on IGI (LDS Family Search) also but no luck - sorry.
Best regards

Hello Col,
I was hoping you could give me information on the christening you found in 1846. If Honora's father is Thomas Mullany, I believe that could be my ancestor I am looking for. Coincidentally born the same year and location as Carolyn's family member.
Thank you so much,
Katharine Murphy
