I have traced my Orr connections back to farming in Welshestown/ Russels Quarter North from 1789 onwards. I have leases for Mathew Orr dated 1789 and his sons William and Thomas who died in 1858 and 1851 respectively.
Their burial records show they are in Ballyculter parish, but I could not find gravestones there for them.
I have photographs of all Orr graves in this churchyard if anyone wants them. The oldest Orr headstones seem to go back to 1730's for a Peter Orr and a Mathew Ore.
I am interested in connecting with anyone who is researching Orrs in the Downpatrick, Saul, Ballyculter or Strangford area.

Hi Brenda,
Thank you very much for your message and for your offer to share this information.
I hope that someone who is researching the same family makes a connection with you.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,

In researching Barnard Coulter I found records from the Ballyculter Church of Ireland of him marrying Catherine Orr in 1830, whose father was listed as Matthew Orr. Thomas Orr and John Orr were the witnesses. I haven't yet conducted any further research back into the family or the Orr's, but I wonder if this might be the same family?
