My great grandfather, John Derby, a native of Co. Longford and a member of the R.I.C. was married to Ellen Agnes Leahy at Tallow on 5th July 1862. Witnesses were Michael Leahy and Ellen Ryan. Celebrant was Rev. E. Phelan.
They subsequently lived in County Cork and Cork City. In the early 1900's, John Derby died and Ellen went to Boston, where she lived with her daughters who had emigrated in the 1880's and 1890's. She had a son, Michael who was a priest in Boston.
She may have had a sister, Mary A, who also lived in Boston. Many descendants still live there.
There may have been a connection with a Greene family of Tallow.
I would welcome any assistance in establishing an earlier branch of the family tree in the Tallow area and hope somebody will be able to assist.

I checked the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Tallow parish. There were a number of Leahy records in the parish. There was also an Edward Green living on Tallowbridge St. in Tallow.(See the first link below). I also checked out the 1901 census and found John and Ellen with two daughters Agnes and Margaret in Cork City.
