I have traced my family back to the Errigal Trough area of County Monaghan. Subquently, I had a DNA test done. The DNA test indicates that I have an 89% chance of having a common relative in the last 200 years with a man who was born in Derrynoose, Armagh.
I also had my DNA results examined by http://www.irishorigenes.com/. Look for the Kelly case study. I am the first Kelly to have such a case study done. Dr. Bowles believes that my family originated in the Kilkelly area 1,200 to 1,000 years ago. I am looking for a Kelly farmer from the area who is interested in genealogy and either has or is willing to have a DNA test performed. I would like to compare my results with his. I am good for a pint or two at a local pub while meeting with such a farmer as mentioned earlier.
I leave for Ireland on May 6th and will be in the Kilkelly area for a few short hours on May 10th. However, since I am staying in Westport it would be easy for me to return to Kilkelly on either May 11th or 12th.

they were custodians of the ancient church in Kilkelly ,the site is preserved with well close by.the old name for
kelly is in gaelic meaning= (Ceallach), there is a Kelly clan gathering here in Ireland and every few years they have a clan
gathering and elect their chief.The old name for the gathering was Aonach meaning= fair or market which
was held during the seasons of the year
