Elizabeth Jamison Martin, my 2nd great grandmother, daughter of John Joseph Martin and Mary (Jamison) Martin, was born in 1830 in Dromore, Down, Northern Ireland.
John Joseph Martin was born about 1810 in County Down, Northern Ireland and married Mary Jamison married before 1830.
Mary Jamison, daughter of Thomas Jamison, was born in 1810 in County Down, Northern Ireland. They both immigrated to the US, also in 1856,
and settled in Oakland, MD. John Joseph died in 1870 at the age of 60 in Oakland, Garrett, Maryland, and Mary died in 1880 at the age of 70 also in Oakland, Garrett, MD.
Elizabeth married David LITTLE, also of Down in 1856 in the Presbyterian Church Banbridge. They immigrated to the US shortly after they were married. After living in NY State for several years, they moved close to family in Garrett County, Maryland.
Hoping to connect with family and finding out more about this Martin family.

Thanks so much for responding. I, too, hope that another Martin will connect! I've not checked the 1900 census as there are so many Martins I'd have no clue if they were related to mine who left in 1856. I have researched many, many other sites over the last 10+ years. I understand from another post/reply, that with my 3rd great grandfathers being a weaver and a blacksmith, it is unlikely that I'll find any information.
I've sent an email to the 2nd Dromore Pres. Church asking for their assistance. ... even included a small inquiry for them to put in their next church bulletin, if they're willing.
I will also send an email to Downpatrick Library asking for their assistance.
All suggestions, advice, etc. are most welcomed.
