Researching Michael Bourke (born circa 1840) and Winifred Coyne (bron circa 1849) and descendants.

I believe they are the grandparents to my Grandfather Michael James Reeves, who was the son of Mary Jessie Bourke from Rosserk (born circa 1879)

Siblings of Mary included Patrick, James adn Martin Bourke. Mary was known to have married in Liverpool to a Richard Reeves in 1899.

Anyone who can help please get in touch.

Below are the 1901 and 1911 census records for Michael and Winifred Bourke. They lived in Lecarrow townland. The 1911 census indicates that Winifred had four children but only three were living in 1911. If Mary was still alive in 1911, I assume Martin had died.

  • Hello there

many thanks for your reply. I know Martin was in Liverpool 1901 as he is shown as godfather to Mary's daughter winifred may at that time. I have certainly been unable to find any location for Martin, but there is some evidence that a MartinBourke married a Bridget Therese Boyd circa 1907. He therefore could well have died before the 1911 census.

Could you point me to any cemeterys that may be local to the area so I can search, I know that based on their residence Ballina is nearby but no idea re likely burial places.

Many thanks for your help thus far!

In regard to Cemetery Sites as as your enquiry above this is a great website for Cemeteries in North Mayo....

You could check with your Library to see if they have an edition of the following book available, its is out of print at present but it is invaluable for North Mayo Area research.  They may be able to get a copy for you.
