My g-g-grandfather, Patrick O'Keefe, was born in Co. Clare (parish unknown) in 1821. Parents' names unknown. He emmigrated to the US. in 1848. He married Mary O'Connell (Irish born but Co. unknown) c. 1850 in NYC. They settled in Cedar Lake Township in Scott County, Minnesota in the mid-1850s. His younger brother Daniel also settled in the same township. I would love to track down his townland!

Hi:
I will take a look through the Tulla parish registers for you and let you know.
Any idea of parents names?
Kind regards,
Jane.

Hello Jane. Sadly I have no names for the parents. I only know that he has a brother named Daniel (b/c he ended up homesteading in Minnesota right next to Patrick). I appreciate your willingness to look at your parish register!

I was thinking about this and wondered if a good guess might not be "Daniel" as his father's name. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the first son was (often) named after the paternal grandfather. And Patrick's first son was Daniel. His first daughter was Bridget (but that same naming convention held that the 1st daughter was named after the maternal grandmother, right?). Second daughter was "Margaret." Third was Hannah. So maybe his mother was either Margaret or Johanna? The 2nd son was Henry ... just in case that might turn out to be helpful.

Hi:
That could certainly be a possibility. Would you like me to send you what I found?
