My gg grandfather was born in Bohola in approx. 1835. He has siblings who may have been born there as well. On the grave marker of my gg grandfather's parents it says they came from the parish of Killedan in County Mayo.

My gg grandfather: Timothy Murtaugh b: 3-13-1835 in Bohola

Parents: Thomas (Thos.) Murtaugh b: 1796   -   Bridget Early b: 1806

children:   Michael b: 1820 (commonly known in the parish as "Gyp",                 Bridget b: 1825,  Mary b: 1830,  Timothy b: 1835,  John b: 1840,  & the youngest, Thomas was born at sea 1845.    I am coming to Ireland this fall for almost a month and am planning to spend alot of time in Mayo. I hope to find some relatives I never knew I had and to make some new friends.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pamela

    Hi Pamela,

    Thank you for your message.

I have forwarded it one of our volunteers who hopefully may be able to assist or advise you.

I am delighted to hear that you will be visiting this year! Hopefully we will be able to help you find some new information beforehand.

We have recently added a new link to the top of our website for people who are planning on visiting in 2013. It takes you to a short web form. We would really appreciate it if you could take a moment to complete this. Thank you!

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Pamela,

I have just put my own post on this website and then found yours. My gg grandfather was married to Mary Early and Bridget Early was with her at the baptism of her son in Manchester, England in 1851. If this is the same Mary Early, she would be around the correct age. Would you know if she married John Fisher, a moulder/figure maker and came over to Manchester prior to the birth?

    Regards,

    John Fisher
