  • Hi Kerryn,

the records for co clare are one of the few counties that are not online.  You will have to contact the co. clare genealogy heritage centre to look up these records.

I found a martin nestor born 1833 in co. kilkenny.  this record is on the www.rootsireland.ie website

    regards,

  • Hi:

I have done a search for you in the local parish register here in Tulla and the marriage does not appear.  It is quite possible that it could be in a neighbouring parish.  Are you aware of the website Nestor's Bridge?  You can google those two terms and there is a very well done website by a man from Florida who details his family research.  Both McNamara and Nestor names are in his family tree.  It is well worth looking at.

In addition, before you go to the trouble of going to the Clare Heritage Centre, you can look through the Clare County Library website that has lots of very useful information for you.  Their address is:  www.clarecountylibrary.ie/genealogy.  They have the Tithe Applotment Books, Griffith's Valuation, and both Censuses can be accessed.  In addition, they have a lot of donated material from other family researchers that might prove very helpful and useful to you.

I will have a look through the Quin baptism register as both names were in that parish at one time.  Will you leave this with me for a week or so and I will get back to you with what I (hopefully!) have found?

    Have a wonderful Easter.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.
