Hi there,
Can you give a first name of the person you're looking for? Date range? Parents name?
Regards,

My maiden name is Haverty. My great Aunt had a print of Joseph Patrick Haverty-The Blind Piper hanging in her parlor. My sisters and I have been trying to find if we are related to him. My great-grandfather was Patrick Haverty and came to the USA fromGalway in 1859 with is brother John. They married sisters, Bridget and Anne Cusack. My great-grandfather stayed in Ohio but Johns family moved to Nebraska. Joseph Patrick Haverty(1794-1864). I have conntacted some Havertys in USA and Austrialia and so far have not found anyone related to him. Because my family has many artist in family tree, I was hoping that he is my ancestor. When my sister-in-law was in Ireland she bought me a book with info on JP Haverty and the bookstore where she found the book was his former home.

Hello! I am looking for information on Thomas Haverty, believed to be from Kilchreest in County Clare or Galway. He emigrated to the U. S. in the 1840's approximately and settled in Atlanta, Georgia. Some of his children were Catherine (my great grandmother) and J.J., who founded the furniture stores of the name Haverty in the U. S. I believe J. J. was for James Joseph. Catherine was born in the 1830s, I think. J.J. was the only one of Thomas's children to be born in the U. S. I am coming to Ireland on April 30 and hope to come to Kilchreest or wherever I might find information.
An interesting fact about J. J. is that he was instrumental in the founding of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, having contributed the first permanent collection of paintings. Perhaps he was related to the artist. He persuaded Mrs. J. M. High to give her home for the first museum, hence the name High Museum.

My name is Rawson Haverty Jr. from Atlanta Ga. my great, great grandfather was Thomas Haverty born in Kilchreest in 1809 and immigrated to America’s in 1848 and ended up in Atlanta Ga. where he settled. and later was able to send for his wife Margaret Canaan- 1816-1882 - a joined him in America with their children. Thomas died in Atlanta on February, 2, 1896 at the age of 87. Their youngest child, the only one born in America was, James Joseph Haverty, my grandfather, born in Atlanta Oct. 30, 1858 when Thomas was 49. I’m visiting in Ireland with my family and visited Kilchreest to try to meet descendants of Thomas and to locate the Haverty House on Boggaun Lane in Ballynacurragh (just down a beautiful country road from Kilchreest) which as I discovered is still in the family and extremely well kep by Paddy Haverty whose home and farm surround the 300 year old (estimating) thatched house.
More to write later.

Hello, Rawson. I have posted some things about obtaining info on my Haverty ancestors. I was in Ireland in 2013 and had no success. My paternal grandmother was Theresa Daly Sullivan, and her mother was Catherine Haverty, sister of your grandfather, J. J. Haverty. My parents were Chris and Irene Sullivan. We lived on Peachtree Road near Christ the King. (I now live in Athens.) I wonder if you might have a picture of Paddy Haverty's house, as I was unsuccessful in finding it in 2013.
Any information you have on the ancestors preceding Thomas Haverty would be much appreciated!
