I am trying to find the actual Irish connection for my ancestor (great-great grandfather) who gallantly served in the American Civil War. Luke Miller's enlistment papers say he was born around 1830 and was from Sligo, Ireland. He was approx. 32 when he enlisted and had a wife and 2 children. I can trace him back here in the US but am stumped trying to find any immigration information. I also have maternal ties to County Cork and Wexford. How do we find the  crossing points during the great famine years? I would appreciate any help with this.
