Susannah Callahan dob +/- 1730 Emigrated to NY

Yes, we are trying to find birth records (etc.) for Susannah Callahan and the Adems brothers. If we can do that then we can try to find their ancestors as well & take those lines back further than the early 1700's.

Unfortunately, it may be difficult to find birth records for them as the reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist. Generally the bulk of what does exist is in Church of Ireland records  as this was the official church of the country at the time.

Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42

Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.

Presbyterian registers are held in three main locations:

• in local custody
• in the Public Records of Northern Ireland (PRONI) http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
• at the Presbyterian Historical Society http://www.presbyterianhistoryireland.com in Belfast.

PRONI has microfilm copies of almost all registers in Northern Ireland and also lists of records held by the Presbyterian Historical Society.

Wow!! Thanks for all the info. Wish me luck! When they moved to the States they attended sometimes the Presbyterian Church & sometimes the Episcopal which I believe is more like the Church of Ireland...
