  • Ruth:

Swinford or Swineford is in Kilconduff parish. You don't mention when Bridget was born but you may want to check the 1901 and 1911 censuses at www.nationalarchives.ie to see where she lived.

  • I am trying to trace a Florence Gallagher who was born 1920 in Swinford/Charlestown Falleens I believe. She travelled to USA when she was 17. She married and had one daughter Eileen Meehan. I would like to make contact.

  • We  have a Bridget Gallagher in our family who immigrated to the US in 1923.  Her parents were Thomas Gallagher and Mary Ryans.  Her siblings:  Peter, Thomas, John, Catherine and Mary A.  Let me know whether or not this fits your family as there are two Bridget Gallaghers born about the same time in the same area.  You can also email me directly at BetsJRad@aol.com

  • Thanks for the response.  Not sure of the siblings' names.  She married Dennis Craig from Co. Donegal and lived in Philadelphia area.  When she emigrated to US, she changed her first name to Beatrice.  Doe any of this sound familiar?

  • I have found a Birth Cert for a Florence Gallagher in the townland of Fauleens which is in the Charlestown/Swinford area. Her parents were William Gallagher and Norah McGuire (or McGuinn). However I am not sure if this is the Florence I am researching.

  • Our Bridget married Joseph Flatley and lived in NY.  She subsequently moved to California.  I have seen your Bridget when doing research on Ancestry and if you are working your family tree there, you should be able to find her easily.  Good luck!

  • Hey there. Was hoping to get in touch with Ruth Fallon. Just wondering if you had much success with information on the Craig family in Glenties. Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers.
