Crewcat is a townland in the civil parish of Kilmore, Co. Armagh

It may be difficult to find John and Edward?s marriage certificates without knowing where the marriage took place. Civil registration did not become mandatory in Ireland until 1864, as a result it was up to the churches to records births/baptisms, marriages and deaths before then. Most of these record are still held at a local level, so you can see why knowing the parish where the marriage took place is necessary.

You could take Kilmore parish as a starting point as this was where they lived.

For Catholic records you may want to try writing to the local parish priest for assistance. One website which you may find useful is the Irish TImes where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Kilmore parish follow this link:

As civil registration began in 1864, if John died after this date and was still in Ireland there would be a record of his death in civil records.These records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:

Have you tried looking into immigration records? If you could find Edwards immigration record you may find reference to who he was travelling with. If he was already married it may list his wife?s name. It may also help you confirm if John travelled as well.
