Seek relatives of Michael Gavin (born 1840s in Hospital Parish) and Teresa Kenney (born 1843, County Limerick, possibly Croom). They were the parents of Katherine T. Gavin, my great-grandmother. She was a seamstress who emigrated to Philadelphia in the 1880s and married Daniel Danaher.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message.

Have you tried searching in the 1901 census records to see if there are any family members still in the area at the time? I did a search for Michael Gavin in Limerick and came back with a result that seems to match in terms of age. However this Michael is living in Limerick City. It is difficult for me to ascertain whether or not this is the correct Michael, perhaps you may recognise some of the names mentioned with him:

    1901: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Glentworth__Limerick_No__5/Punches_Lane/1503355/

    1911: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Limerick/Limerick_No__5_Urban/Punch_s_Lane/632199/

It may also be an idea to also place this message in a more local forum such as a newspaper or newletter, in the hope that someone connected to the family sees it and responds to it. Some possible places to do thisare:

    The Limerick Post: http://www.limerickpost.ie/

    Limerick Leader: http://www.limerickleader.ie/

I hope that this suggestion is helpful and that you are able to make a connection with some of Michael?s descendents.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
