I was born Laurie Anne Reid 2/23/1957. I am the daughter of Robert Reid(born August 25, 19 who is a decendant of Henry Reid (born Oct 12, 1858 and died Oct 30, 1927). Henry Reid is the son of Robert and Sarah Anne Reid.

Robert Reid(Called Little Robert) sailed from Belfast Ireland on August 3,1847. He married Sarah Ann Black and they had 9 children. Henry (above) being the 5th child.

The Reid's settled in and around Kingston, Ontario Canada. Tamworth, Camden East, Reidville, Enterprise and Moscow were a few towns populated by Reids.

In 1975 Cora Reid from Reidville decided to put together a book on the Reid families which I have a copy of . In 1972 Miss June Reid from Tullgoney, Dungannon, N. Ireland came for a visit to Canada and spent a day at Reidville visiting Canadian 'kin".

I am looking to connect with relatives that may still live in Tyrone County.

Thank you

Laurie

    Hi Laurie,

Thank you for your message. I hope that someone makes a connection with you through the message board.

As June was in the area as late as 1972, it may also be an idea to post his message in a more local forum in the hope that someone will recognise the names and make a connection with you. Some possible places you could do this online are:

    The Tyrone Courier: http://www.tyronecourier.uk.com/

    The Tyrone Times: http://www.tyronetimes.co.uk/

    The Ulster Herald: http://ulsterherald.com/

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,

  • Laurie,

I am interested in the Reid family.  My GGG grandmother was Margaret Reid Primrose, born 1811.  She lived in Dungannon at least part of her life according to census records. She is buried in St. John's COI in Fivemiletown, Fermanagh. I am interested in the book about the Reid family which you referred to in the post.

  • Hi Laurie. Am interested in any info on Little Robert, Robert Reid from Dungannon? His son, Charles Reid was my great grandfather and I have seen the family home in Ontario. Charles Reid married Parmelia Craig and they had 7 children...not sure of figure but can look up.  One of his daughters Violet Reid was my grandmother and she married  William Asselstine... their son Briden is my father. Very interested in my Irish side so any info would be appreciated.

Thank you. Lisa. Email is lismorgess@gmail.com
