  • There does not appear to be any Murdocks in Mayo in 1823-37 (Tithe Applotment Books)

In  Griffiths Valuations 1850's  there are 3 Murdock families in Mayo, two in Castlebar (Aglish) and one in Ougavel, (Westport), You will be able to search the maps to locate the townland of origin.

(If Eleanor was born in Canada in 1838 then this could possibly be relatives that remained in Mayo.

There is a Carrowmacloughlin in Turlough  and Louisburgh.

There appears to be somone else researching the Murdock family in Turlough (scroll down the page)

The above site is a good one to use for research in Mayo

  • I pulled a page off someone's family tree on Ancestory, but there is not indication where the page came from, the top of the page reads "Record Search Results, then there is a Mayo Co Crest.

It is a list of baptisms:

Michael Murdock, a weaver and farmer of carrickmacloughlin,Ballinvilla married Catherine and had issue:

    1.Michael Murdock baptised 13 March 1823

    2.Jane Murdock baptised 16 July 1826

    3.Moses Murdock baptised 4 July 1828

    4 John Murdock baptised 9 May 1830

These are only four of 11-12 children, so I am not sure if they are correct.

There are other Murdocks listed on the page total of four sets of parents with children.

It lists below the page numbers in Volume 1 of Turlough Col parrish.

Does this mean anything to you??

    Thank you for your help,

    Jean
