My ancestors were James Conway who married Ann Payne. They both died in Loughall in 1873. Their son John MIchael emigrated to Australia in 1855 but then returned to Ireland for a further 3 years in 1860. I believe the townland the family lived in was Clonmain or Cloven Eden. I think it was the latter. Would love to make contact with family over in Ireland.

    Hi Patrice,

    Thank you for your message.

Have you tried searching the 1901/1911 census records to see if there were still any Conways in the area at the turn of the century? You can search these here:

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Unfortunately, these are the latest records that we have here. It may be an idea to post this message in a more local forum in the hope that someone will recognise the family name and make a connection with you. Some possible places you could do this are:

    Ulster Gazette: http://www.ulstergazette.co.uk/advertising/

    Armagh Observer:

    26 Upper English Street,
    Armagh
    BT61 7BD
    Phone: 028 3752 2793

Alternatively, you could try contacting Armagh Ancestry for assistance- a fee may apply. Here are their contact details:

    Armagh Ancestry,

    40 English Street, Armagh,

    BT61 7BA,

    Northern Ireland.

    Phone: +44 28 3752 1800   Email: researcher@armagh.gov.org

I hope that this is helpful. Best of luck.

    Kind regards,
