I am the descendant of one Patrick O'Hehir whose family roots are from County Clare, but I have not been able to pinpoint where in County Clare his home was.

His grandson, Patrick Joseph O'Hehir/Hare was my great-grandfather.  My great-grandmother was Elizabethae Jannae BRADY, born in England.  She met and married my great grandfather in England which is where he was born as well.

My great-grandfather worked as a ship's engineer on the ship that transported Irish and English immigrants to the U.S.A. via England's shores.

His family consisted of his wife, Elizabethae BRADY and two children:  Vincent O'Hehir/Hare and a daughter named Annie O'Hare/O'Hehir.  The family immigrated to the USA in the early 1900s.  Annie was about six years old at the time of their immigration to Ellis Island, New York, NY, USA.

Annie was my grandmother and she had married a Walter Hermann Fredrich WESSEL in North Carolina when she was about 14 years of age.  They had five children, all born in the USA in the great state of New York.

If you have any possible connections to this family line, please contact me at dgsmeall@me.com so we can compare family lines.

Sincerely,

Perdy54.

  • Hi:

i just saw your query.  You might be able to dind out more if you checked the 1901 Census.  if you wearch by their surname, you might get some results.  Have you checked the Clare county Library website?  They also have links to the 1901 Census as well as to Griffith's Valuation and the Tithe Applotment Books by surname and by parish.  Those are the first two places that I would recommend as you know that they came from County Clare.

If you need any further help, please contact me.

    Good  luck in your search,
