have you checked out the Clare County Library website? They might have some very useful information for you. Their web address is www.clarecountylibrary.ie. you can go into the genealogy section from there. You can look through the Tithe Applotment Books by surname which might help you narrow your search to a few parishes.

I am only just starting to search - I discovered this site through a newspaper article in my local paper in Canada on Boxing Day - someone started doing our family history a couple of years ago, which I have on paper, but it stops with those born outside of Canada.
