  • No they are separate parishes                                                                                                                                                                                   It can get quite confusing cause borders change over the centuries.differnt borders were used by different people when recording land and census'.  During the griffith valuations part of them were recorded under parish of caherconlish and similary the at the time   of 1901 and 1911 census parts of parish were also recored within the caherconlish parish but were/are part of Murroe Parish.

If you are looking for baptismal/Marriage records it worth a try in both parishes as they were so close together , people living on the border sometimes would  go to either church. A similar thing happened with cappamore parish.

  • Hi

Do you have access to the Church Records in Caherconlish and Cappamore? Because its seems some of the baptismal records or marriage record are not at the Church of the Holy Rosary in Murroe.

    Thanks

  • Does this mean that the Church of the Holy Rosary was not the only Catholic church in Murroe in the 1800"s?

    Thanks

  • That church was not there in the 1800's it was only built early 1900's but there were a few churches in the parish over the years but all records for the parish are held in the murroe church now.

Caherconlish is a completely different area/parish that has its own church and they have their own set of records.

It just happened sometimes that people who lived on the border between 2 parishes/area might go to the closer church!
