I am trying to find the baptism of James GODKIN, parents names unknown. He was reputedly born in 1806 in Gorey, Co Wexford.

James was ordained in the Episcopal church in Armagh in 1834.

James married Sarah LAWRENCE and they had 5 children that I know of. He died in 1879.

I would really appreciate any help or advice on this.

Regards,

Jennifer Godkin.

  • Hi Jennifer, You will get all clergy details at the Church of Ireland library in Dublin. See RCB website (Representative church body) Raymond Refusse or an of the staff will help there. There are Godkin families still living in Wexford. There was a John Godkin killed in the 1798 rebellion, he is mentioned in  a book called "Irish rebellion of 1798" by Sir Richard Musgrave, available at any library. Hope this helps, Gloria.

  • Hi Gloria,

thanks for your advice, I will follow it up. I have a CD for the 1798 rebellion with lots of info for Godkins. I will also look at the book you mention.
