Searching for the family of Bridget Mary Jackson (born between 1859 and 1864).

Her father was Thomas Jackson, a Blacksmith.  Mother unknown.

Thomas worked in Wicklow, Dunlavin, Toberbeg.

Bridget was my great grandmother.

Kind regards

Eric

Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie has an 1859 baptismal record for a Bridget Jackson with a father Thomas and a mother Eliza. The record was in the Dunlavin RC records. Roots is a pay site to view the transcription of the church record.

I also checked the 1901 census for Toberbeg and there was an 82 year old Eliza Jackson living alone.

Eliza likely died before 1911 since she is not shown in the 1911 census.

I will look for civil death index records for Thomas and Eliza.

I located the civil death index record for Eliza in 1908. I looked for Thomas also. Found two records. There was a Thomas Jackson born 1791 and died in 1876. Another Thomas born 1781 and died 1869. The year of birth was provided by the informant. Was Thomas a lot older than Eliza?

You can get a copy of the Eliza death record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros.I included instructions below.

I also checked Roots Ireland for a marriage record for Thomas and Eliza. There were two possible records in 1846 and 1850. Neither was in Dunlavin.

Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. (This is a program bug that the GRO has to correct). Hit cancel and the appropriate form should come up. Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the even,. registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.
