My husband's maternal GG grandfather, Denis Mahon, was born and baptised in Dunlavin parish, County Wicklow, in 1831.  He was the son of George Mahon and Mary (maiden name unknown)  Denis had the following siblings:  Sarah, Judith, John and James.  Denis emigrated first to Ashton-under-Lyne in Lancashire where he married Mary McManus in 1860.  By the late 1860's the young family had emigrated to the USA and were living in Lawrence, Massachusetts.  The family included John and Mary, born in England, and James and Catherine, born in Lawrence.  Denis' first wife Mary died in 1872, and he then married Bridget Melia.  Denis and Bridget then moved the family to New Bedford, Massachusetts.  Denis and Bridget's children included Patrick, George, Dennis, Sarah, and John, all born in Lawrence.  Denis lived the rest of his life in New Bedford, dying there in 1913.

Denis' brother John likely followed the same emigration pattern, first to Lancashire where he married Esther Moulds in 1867, then to Massachusetts.  John and Esther first settled in Lawrence, and then in Fall River, Massachusetts.  John and Esther had 5 children- Mary, born in England, George, Dennis, Julia and James, all born in Lawrence.

Interested in connecting with any descendants or relatives of the Mahons of Dunlavin.
