Hi Again,

I'm happily continuing the family search.Roger has been very very helpful.

I'm hoping to get the birth info of John O'Brien and Maria Curran married in 1927. He was a Tailor(24yrs) and she a Spinster((18yrs).

Their residences at the time of their marriage were Chapel Ground Arklow (John) and Rustigah Woodenbridge (Maria).  The Currans owned proprty and had servants there. Not much info on the O'Briens.

John's Father was Michael O'Brien(Tailor) and Maria's Father was Matthew Curran(Blacksmith).

This is very exciting as I didn't think I would even get this far.  Can someone help or recommend a paying site that is very good.  Maybe the one's you use?

cheers Lynda Anderson:))

  • Hi Lynda
There are 2 birth/baptism records for John O'Brien & surname variants on www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site)
2 matches for the search criteria: O'Brien (plus variants) John 1900-1906

Neither is from Arklow but that was where he lived age 24.
There was no record for Maria
I assume you are aware that the 1911 Irish Census (free at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/) has 9 Currans in Rostygah:

  • Hi Frances,

thank you very much. This will help to continue the search.
I knew about the Currans in Rostygah and only found out through this site that that is where they lived. Another Irish site didn't decipher it with the correct spelling therefore couldn't find them. It was fairly hard to read on the cert.
I guess the next step is to join a subscription site. Can you recommend a good one for me.

cheers & thank you again. Lynda
