Christopher Curran (born ca 1818) of County Longford married Ann Fagan of County Westmeath in the early to mid 1830's.  Prior to the marriage they had a daughter Brigid.  Soon after the marriage Christopher immigrated to the USA to Mauch Chunk, PA.  USA. Became a stone mason and successful contractor.  It was some time before he sent for Ann and their daughter.  Christopher has 2 known siblings, Patrick born ca 1835 and Catherine ca 1830.  Both immigrated to Mauch Chunk in the mid 1840's.  Both are remembered in Christopher's will.   Would love to find the parents and if there are other siblings.  Christopher is believed to be the oldest and his middle initial is believed to be F, possibly Francis.

  • Hi thanks for your message.

Do you have any other information regarding the family?  The name of the parish that Christopher was born in would really help narrow down the search.  Religious denomination is also important in determining which records are relevant to your research.

Also do you know much about their emigration? Generally more information is given at the port of arrival rather than departure so if you knew which city they arrived in it may help.

THe US National Archives Immigration information may be of some help. YOu can find this here:

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
