Looking for info about Tobin family who probably originated in Tallow area and then went to Ballynoe, Cork. I understand that some of the tobins are still in the Tallow area. I can exchange info about the ones who came to Boston.

  • My G.G. Grandfather was Patrick Tobin m. Mary Carroll on 21 Feb 1860 in Tallow, Waterford.  I think he was born abt 1839 in Rathdrum, Ballynoe, cork. He may have been b. in Tallow, Waterford. I believe his father was Thomas Tobin, b. in Tallow and his mother was Ann Joyce. There are still cousins in the Birchill area of Tallow. John Tobin and his wife Susan Cotter's children are just a few of them.

My G. Grandfather was Thomas Tobin, b. 22 Nov 1865 in Rathdrum. He immigrated to Boston area in abt 1883.

There are currently cousins who still live on the family farm in Rathdrum, Denis and Ann Tobin.

Many Tobins came to Boston and/or New york. One was a prominent Priest in the Westchester, NY area. Richard Hartnett Tobin.

Many Tobins were priests. One, that I followed, is Fr. Thomas Tobin who was president of St. Colman's college in Cork.

    Any of this help?

    Suzanne

  • I came across Tobin's in Berkshire county, Massachusett while searching for my non-Tobin tree branch.  Tobins are buried in St. Joseph's cemetery, Pittsfield, Massachusetts.  One of my relatives married a Berkshire Tobin.  Good luck.
