I'm not looking for anything in particular right now. Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi.
My Salmon family is from Bonmahon, Ballylaneen, County Waterford. (I think that is how it would be written.) I have searched the Catholic Parish Records at http://registers.nli.ie/ and found a few records. Although, right now I am waiting for them to redigitize some of the films that are blurry for the parish of Stradbally.
I have a marriage of a Richard SALMON to Elena (Ellen) SALMON on 8 August 1841. It looks like the sponsors were Joannes SALMON and Catherine SALMON. I think this is going to be a tough challenge putting the earlier generations together with all the same last name.
I also have a marriage of Thomas SALMON to Hanora POWER 11 Sep 1840.
A marriage of Joannes FITZGERALD to Catherine SALMON on 18 Jul 1842.
I'm still trying to piece the family together in Ireland. I have two brothers Patrick and Richard SALMON who came to the United States, Patrick before 1850 and Richard 1849. I do have an Edward/Edmund SALMON that we are trying to fit into the family. He is of the age of Patrick and Richard, but is never mentioned in any of their records. In looking through the eligible records at http://registers.nli.ie/ and have not found him yet.
I have not done a lot of research yet in Ireland for them. Once the birth records are redigitized I am hoping to be able to connect some of these people together.

I have looked at them before. But, I hate to pay for something that I can't see what is available. Is there a way to know what each county provides? Like what time periods for certain records. Thanks.

Ancestry and Find My Past now have integrated RC parish register data online and I think both companies are providing the records for free at least for a week and maybe a month on Ancestry. Check it out!

Hi Patty, I have a family history of Sammons (Salmons) from around Bunmahon. They married into my family, the Coffeys during the 19th century. There may be a connection with yours. I have attached a pdf of what I have. NB, as you're doing research you may want to know that Irish parish records are free for the month of March. See:
Yours sincerely

Thank you, Roger. I will have to check into that. It will be later in the week, though. Too much going on right now at work.
Aidan - Thank you for the information. I think you're right that there may be a connection. I see nothing concrete I can tie into. But, the San Francisco reference is a clue. (At least from my old memory.) I believe I saw an entry one time in the Springfield, IL records about a death of a ?? Salmon in San Francisco and I've never been able to tie that person into my tree. But, my family did go to Springfield, so there must be something. I'll have to find it. I have no Coffey/Coffee's in my tree so far.
I will be in touch by e-mail so I don't lose contact with you.
Thank you both, Patty

Hi Barbara, Sorry for the delay. I've been away. I'm really not sure about the Dee's. They were connected to the family somehow, but I'm not quite sure how yet. But, the name was early in the family right after they came from Ireland. So, assumed they maybe came from here, too.
