In the Tithe Applotment there is a reference to a Jane Crotty living in Shanacool. She was possibly Jane Brown married to Thomas Crotty. This may have been her 2nd marriage. All a bit tenuous. If it is Thomas he must have died because otherwise he'd have been mentioned here.
Later on in Griffith's Valuation I have Thomas Crotty - I'm presuming him & Jane are connected but I can't "fit" Thomas in. It's possible he's Jane son but I couldn't make that link.
Thanks for any help!

Hello Almira,
Thanks for your message.
In the absence of civil records (which, as you probably know, begin in 1864) your best bet for figuring out the connection between Thomas and Jane would be Catholic parish records, which can be searched on the subscription website Roots Ireland (€15 for a 24-hr subscription). But it sounds like you may have already done that.
The Valuation Office cancelled books - which pick up where Griffith's leaves off, after a gap of about a decade - would show you who occupied the holding from c1860 onwards. These are not online but can be consulted in the Irish Life building on Abbey Street, Dublin: https://valuationoffice.simplybook.it/v2/
Thomas Crotty also appears in the tithe applotment books for Shanacool, apparently also in 1834: http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/reels/tab//004625718/00…
