I'm looking to connect with anyone that has roots in Parish Kill or Powers or Whelan/Phelan in their family tree (I know that those are the most wide-spread names in Co. Waterford, still). :) My Powers married a Phelan/Whelan and immigrated with his family to Canada in the 1830s.

I have John Power (DOB 1847- Ross) who married Catherine Phelan (DOB 1849 - Kill) They married in 1872. They moved to Townsville, Australia. Not sure if they would be related to your family????

Hi Jill and Tiger, My Whelans are definately from this parish. My ancestors are John Whelan and Catherine Sullivan. They had 11 children and Powers is a surname listed on some of the baptism. Some of their descendants came to the US, but I have not found their sons John, Edward or Edmund and Michael yet. Mary Beth
