Burke Family from Waterford. Need information to break down a brick wall in my family history. John Burke born 1859 (family oral history have mantained it was Waterford) His mother was Elizabeth born roughly 1839 and father John born about the same year. The first documentation we have on Elizabeth and her husband was when they first came to Liverpool, and Elizabeth sought relief in the workhouse with her son because of a fever. That was 1870 and she is on the 1871 census with her sister Sarah Connor in Liverpool. John worked in a Boarding House. Elizabeth's and John's son was in the Merchant Navy and I believe he returned to Ireland many times. On Elizabeth's death cert. it states that her husband was Michael, I presume it was Michael John or John Michael as that name was passed down.

Hello Scotty,
The church records are online at www.rootsireland.ie and when I did a quick search I found a number of Burkes that almost match your criteria.
I then narrowed the search to the co. waterford genealogy site and found one record of John burke baptised 1856 father john burke mother elizabeth.
You might like to view this record. It would cost about €5 to view
Another website tht covers the remainder of the counties is www.irishgenealogy.ie
HOpe you find your people,
Anne

Anne, Thank You I feel like I have won the lottery. At least it sounds hopeful, I will follow that lead and see where it takes me. As I have been frustrated with my family tree, as no-matter where I go all the branches go back to Ireland and I seem to be getting no-where. I will post a message when I find out anymore. Once again I really appreciate the help, and the information regarding the other two sites. Maybe I will be able to at least finally find my roots.
