I am hoping to learn more about my Great Grandmother and her parents. Mary Josephine Keane was born 1 Mar 1882 in Abbeyside, Dungarvan, Waterford County. Her parents were Daniel Keane and Bridget Ryan. Mary came to the USA in 1900 going through NYC to Galveston, Texas.
I have been told by people on the Internet that Daniel was born 2 Jun 1857 in Slieve Gua (Sliabh Gcua), Wateford County, Ireland.
Bridget died around 1888, she was hit by a train helping a blind women across the tracks.
I don't know if this information is true. I would love to connect with any family that may still live in Ireland. I would love to learn who Daniel and Bridget's parents are. I would love to learn more about the area and what was happening when my ancestors lived there.

Hi Deb, looking at old queries and see the birth and also 5 siblings, you can view them free here from the civil record, registration district Dungarvan, I was unable to locate the marriage which is odd, as the first child was born in 1880 and I civil registration was compulsory with a hefty finde for non compliance.

This is the church registers for Dungarvan but normally married in the brides parish and Ryan is very common name in those parts. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1105
Without the parents name (father would be on marriage cert) we cannot find a baptism for Daniel. I did see a Daniel Keane marrying a Mary Walsh in 1871 I think, civil records commence in 1864.
If looking for living relatives you could try a private Facebook genealogy group for Warterford or Dungarvan if there is one, but often there is a local page if not always active.
