My brick wall on one line is Lowell Patrick (Peter) McDivitt . Born 1817 or 18 in county Tyrone so I'm told . I've heard a couple stories . One is that he was fishing illegally and caught by the game warden . The game warden broke his pole and threw it in the water . So Patrick cut his ear off and threw it in the lake as well . Afterward he fled by stowing away on a ship from Glasgow to America with his brothers . I do know that he fought for the confederate army in the civil war and settled in Alabama and died in Mississippi . He immigrated around 1833 .
the other story I've heard is that he fled to England and came to America . The other difference is that he took the captains name when he arrived in America. Hoping someone may know this story and can provide an extra hand in pushing down a wall . Thanks
