I am looking for information on my great great grandfather Henry Carr and his wife Margaret Carleton. He leased land in Millix. His second wife was Mary Cuddy Reid. Three of his sons, Carleton, William Henry, and Hugh came to America in the mid 1800's and settled in Ohio. My great grandfather was William Henry. He married Isabelle Turkington prior to coming to America. His brother Carleton married Margaret Patterson in Ballygawley, His brother Hugh married Mary McFarland.

I see Henry listed in Griffiths Valuation for MILLIX in 1860. He had plot 5 which was 170 acres so a huge farm for Ireland at the time. Next door was Thomas Carr on plot 6 with 87 acres. They are likely to be related.

Looking at the revaluation records, Henry’s plot was split with John Carr between 1864 & 1876. Henry’s portion passed to Frances Carr in 1877 (suggesting he died around that time), then to “reps of Francis” in 1898 (indicating he had died around that time). Then to Mary.
This is probably her in 1901:

John’s portion remained in his name till 1903 when it changes to Charles Best who appears to have married his daughter. This looks to be the family in 1901:

(Note that the surname is spelled Kerr by 1901 which is a common variant of Carr).
Probate abstracts:
The Will of Francis Kerr late of Millix County Tyrone Farmer who died 26 July 1895 was proved at Armagh by Mary Jane Kerr of Millix Widow and Anthony Sloan of Martray in said County Farmer the Executors.
Kerr Mary Jane of Millix Ballygawley county Tyrone widow died 12 February 1934 Probate Londonderry 19 September to William Robert Best and Thomas J. Trueman farmers. Effects £47 14s.
This looks to be a descendant of Thomas on plot 6:
Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Samuel Kerr late of Millix County Tyrone Farmer who died 13 November 1895 were granted at Armagh to Eliza Kerr of Millix the Widow.
There’s no Carr/Kerr households farming in Millix in the tithes for 1832-33 so that suggests the families acquired the farms after that period.

The families were Presbyterian. So they possibly attended Ballygawley Presbyterian church. Unfortunately their earliest records only start in 1842, so getting back before that may prove tricky.
