My husband's 2nd great grandfather, Charles Anderson, lived in Gort Township (from Griffiths Valuation). We will be visiting the area at the end of June . Can anyone tell me how to locate present day Gort- I can't find it on any maps.

Hi Anne,
You can see a map of Gort townland in Co. Tyrone here:

Gort isn’t a township. It’s a townland which is simply an Irish land administration unit. It consists of 297 acres of agricultural land. In the 1901 census there were 7 houses and a total population of 33. 2 Anderson farms. All the people in that townland farmed or worked on the land.

Thanks very much for your input. I did mean 'townland', but didn't come out right!
Shall be looking around the area in June.
