Hello
My name is Michael Corrigan and I live in Auckland New Zealand. I have recently started researching my family tree. I have traced my great grand parents via a marriage record dated 1862, in Dungannon. Their names are Thomas CORRIGAN and Charlotte Richardson GOODLATTE. Charlotte Goodlatte was born in 1840 and died on 17 Jan 1890 in Balrothery. I have no birth or death details for Thomas Corrigan.
I would be grateful for any information that you might be able to provide in relation to these relatives, and their parents.
Kind regards.
Mike Corrigan

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking into Church records in Dungannon for information? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Dungannon parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
Family Search have a larger number of records available online also, you may be lucky and find one belonging to either family here: www.familysearch.org
Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so you may be able to find Thomas? death certificate in these records if he died after this date. Unfortunately, date of birth was not always given on the death record in the early days of civil registration, however an age at time of death will be listed which should help narrow down a DOB for Thomas. Civil registration records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these registers online at:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
You could also try looking for the Corrigans and Goodlattes in Griffith?s Valuation. This is a property valuation survey that was carried out in Ireland 1848-1864. You can search this online here:
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
You may also want to check the 1901/1911 census records to see if there were any family still in the area at the time. You can search these here:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Some other websites which you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
Genealogy Links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/tyrone/index.html
I hope that this is helpful. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

Hello,
I was looking at this message board again (after a long absence) and noticed your post. It would appear that, for some reason, I did not respond at the time. Please accept my sincere apology.
I believe that I am a descendant of David Goodlatte and Amelia Harpur. I am very interested in your research tracing the family back to the Richardson tree and Lord Erskine. I would be very appreciative if you are able to share details of that lineage. If it is more convenient for you, my e-mail address is: mikecorrigan00@gmail.com
Kind regards.
