I have posted this before, but I was in the wrong parish forum. I hope it isn't a problem for me to post it here. Also, I did receive a very helpful reply from Elwyn with the file number at PRONI to search for GREERS and a suggestion to look in available records of the Church of Ireland.
I recently found that my 6XGGF, THOMAS MURPHY b. ca. 1727, may have married a GREER/GRIER in the area of Redford, Grange, Co Tyrone, possibly around 1745. His son, John, was born in Tyrone on 15 MAY 1746. I also hope to find her full name and any additional information on the family that may be available. I believe her father was Joseph Greer.
THOMAS was part of a Presbyterian settlement on Duncan Creek, near the present day town of Whitmire in the Provence of South Carolina. His wife may have been a Quaker, however, she would have been forced out of the Church if she married someone of a different faith.
I have hired a genealogist in Co Tyrone to assist me and I will be returning to Northern Ireland in June (Belfast, Grange and Omagh). Any suggestions to pass along to the gentleman helping me or for me to investigate will be welcome.
Thanks.

Hi again I see from your earlier post that Elwyn has replied and he is one of our most knowledgeable volunteers in this area - let us know how you get on with the genealogist/researcher and whether you learn anything further
Best wishes
