I've traced my family (McCourt side) to the Desertcreat parish of Edendoit townland where my grandfather (Edward McCourt b.1904) is on the night of the 1911 Census with his father (Michael b.1852) visiting relatives (they were living in Co. Durham at the time. I plan to undertake a cycling trip around Northern Ireland with my son in September this year and visiting this part of Tyrone will certainly feature.
We hope to meet some living relatives and look forward to cycling through our family history.

There were 4 McCourt families farming in Edendoit in 1911. The family that your ancestors were staying with on census night was plot 21 which is on the modern Edendoit Rd BT71.
Probate abstract from records held in PRONI (Belfast):
Letters of Administration of John McCourt late of Edendoit, Co. Tyrone, farmer, who died 9 March 1915 granted at Armagh to Bridget McCourt, Edendorit, spinster. Effects: ?10s 0d 0d
Can?t see any McCourts listed there in the current phone book but they might be ex-directory. Suggest you knock on a few doors in the area.

Thanks that's very helpful to know. How easy would it be to identify plot 21 precisely nowadays?
I have found two McCourts in the BT Phone Book online living on Edendoit Road and two more in nearby Bardahessiagh Road who I'm going to write to.
