I would like to contact people with information on the McFarland and Simpson families of Liscable. John McFarland (1824 to 1892), a farmer, son of John McFarland (1791 to 1856), married on 18 January 1849 in Badoney Lower Presbyterian Church to Miss Matilda Simpson (1827 to 1902), daughter of John Simpson, farmer. I am especially interested in who the mother's of John and Matilda were; I do know that Matilda's mother was a McFarland, making her and her husband cousins.

    Hi Darryl

We may be tracking the same McFarland line, but I haven't found any proof.

My 3rd GGF - Andrew McFarland was born about 1781 in Ireland, (guessing Tyrone).  Died abt 1856 in Alma, Albert, New Brunswick, Canada. I haven't been able to find any immigration records, death records, etc. that show his parents or anything linking him to a county or parish or townland in Ireland.

Andrew had three sons - Andrew, King and William (my line).  I am DNA connected with a descendent of the son Andrew's line.

In online searches, I have found a possible connection to John McFarland (1672) who married Catherine Hamilton (1676) - both from Liscabble.  Their son John (Liscabble, Tyrone, Ireland 1715) married Mary Armour (Lignabraid,Ardstraw,Tyrone,Ireland 1719) and had 5 sons:  Patrick, John, William, Armour and Andrew.   I think this Andrew connects to me - but again, no proof.  I attached the info from the Ancestry Message Board.

My family is Presbyterian in Canada and the US (Ohio then Wisconsin).

We have a the name Armour a lot in the line, so the marriage to Mary Armour and brother named Armour has my gut thinking it's the right connection.

I do have some DNA connections that show the name Hockley in their trees - including one that also matches my paternal cousin so we are related through my dad's line.  She's khoussenloge in Ancestry, and I haven't tried yet to make the connection.

    Look forward to comparing notes.
