I am looking for the ancestors of John Simpson born 1/1/1803 and Margaret Cordner born 12 July 1807. They were both born in Strabane Tyrone County Ireland and left for the US in 1830. They were married in Philadelphia, PA in 1831 and moved to Illinois. I would like any information on their parents, brothers, sisters who might have remained in Ireland. My e-mail is kicker94@juno.com

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately, the reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland that early ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist. Do you know what religious denomination the family were?
Catholic records for the parish do not begin until 1846:
Church of Ireland records do generally tend to have an earlier start date as it was the official church of the country at the time. Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42
Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.
It may be an idea to contact the irish World Heritage Centre in Tyrone for some assistance. However a fee may apply. Here is their email: info@irish-world.com
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
