I am trying to find any information on the Grady, greedy, gready or Crotty families that lived in Tipperary and migrated to Australia in about 1850. Jane Crotty transported as a famine orphan.  Martin Grady is believed to have travelled on the Emigrant in 1850. If there is any information regarding their parentage that may help me to qualify that I am researching the correct Grady's.

  • Hi Sue,

Need more info as to approximate birth years please.

I will be trying a site called www.rootsireland.ie/ - or you can if you like.

Also, do you have access to ancestry.com & if so have you checked the public member trees/

Have you looked at Peter Madden's site with listing of Tipperary Emigrants.

    Link http://tinyurl.com/ogfuep8

There are two Jane Cotty listed as emigrants

    1. Jane Crotty year of emigration 1841 age 26 father's name not given Mother Ann Ship Jane Gifford Location in Ireland just (Tipp)

    2. This maybe a possibility year 1850 Jane Crotty age 17  Father Michael Mother Jane both dead Ship Maria Location given as (Tipp) could be Tipperary town - but you can contact Peter Madden the site gives his e-mail and it could be worthwhile checking out the passenger list for the Maria. If you think this is the correct Jane you can search www.rootsireland with parents names.

I did look at rootsireland but couldn't find anything for Jane with those parents.

Martin Grady is not listed - but the list only contains those who travelled direct from Ireland or the UK -
