I believe William Whitton born about 1829 in Leeds had parents - William and Mary who were born in Ireland. On 1851 census Mary Witton (transcribed as Wilton) is noted as being born in Tipperary. She would have been born around 1787. William is said to be unmarried on this census but a marriage certificate exists 24/2/1850 between William Whitton and Mary Ann O'Brian. His father is also William Whitton. Both families were linked to weaving. William Whitton Jnr is the father of John Witton - born in Leeds but unable to find birth who was living with Sarah Fidler (nee O'Brian) - his aunt on 1861 and 1871 censuses. I have been unable to find out what happened to John Witton's mother as yet.
