I'm trying to locate my 3X great grandfather John Lonergan who came out from Tipperary to Australia in about 1861.

He was born sometime between 1839 and 1844 (I don't know when as he gives various ages on his children's birth certificates) to Edmund/Edmond Lonergan and Johannah Fitzpatrick. He might have been born with a varaton of the Lonergan name as he couldn't write and he was married as Landrigan.

If it helps it is a family story he had 3 brothers named Richard, Anthoney and Gerald.

Anything would be much appreciated

  • Hi Col,

Thank you very much for this. Would you think that Johanna Maxy was a widow? I am pretty sure her maiden name was Fitzpatrick. Anyway thank you very much for this, I have spent some years trying to find this record,

  • I'm afraid the record doesn't have anything about status so I don't know Cameron.
