I am Charles Franklin Glisson III

My grandfathers name on my fathers side was  "Charles Franklin Glisson" [the 1st],

My Grandfathers name on my mothers side was "Clarance Carter"

I am pretty sure "Carter" is English, but "Glisson" is Irish, and Tipperary in origin.

Would be interested in knowing more,

Thanks

  • I looked at MacLysaght's The Surnames of Ireland- the nearset I got to Glisson is Glissane-

    (O) Gleeson ? Glas?in or ? Glias?in. The anglicized form of the name in Kerry in Glissane. The main sept(tribe) was located in Lower Ormond Map Tipperary

    Hope this helps.

    kind regards,

    Monsea Tipperary
