William Downey was a farmer in Tipperary who moved to Tipperary town and about 1815 married Honora Conden. The couple had at least three children, all of whom emigrated to the Parramatta district of NSW Australia. Margaret, born about 1816, emigrated with her husband James Gammell in 1840, William, born about 1822, emigrated with his daughter Mary, aged 5, after the death of his wife Bridget, in 1855, and Mary, born about 1824, who emigrated in 1853. William Downey had died by 1841, his wife Honora by 1853. Their daughter Margaret had a family in NSW with descendants now living. Mary married but had no children; William's fate is unknown.
