Hello, myself and two other relatives are researching our Gorman Family Tree which is centred around Thurles.
The other two have already got results from the DNA test and now I am a convert also.
We have made attempts to contact Gaelicgirl131 who is our closest DNA linked relative but alas no reply as yet.
The common direct ancestor for the three of us is John Gorman, born 1875 at Thurles, who was one of seven children to Philip Gorman born about 1850 and his wife Mary Fogarty.
Philip Gorman had a sister Mary Gorman who married John Maher in 1874.
I believe Philip had a brother named Michael Gorman who married Mary Maher in 1874.
If anyone out there has a connection to the Gorman family we would look forward to making a connection with them.
Cheers
Andrew

Thank you for that effort Patricia. I already have this information but I am looking for other issue to John Gorman and Ellen Kerwan. I had initially thought that Philip may have been the first born but he may have been the last born.
An initial search of the Parish Registers microfilm today found no other issue 1839-1844

Online the Parish Church Records only appear to go back to 1796. Does anyone know if they are available further back. Also their seems to be no Parish Church death Registers available.

Andrew, I have been trying to figure out where our tree branches meet. Following is what I have been able to semi-confirm: Philip Gorman dob 1841, dod 1906, married to Mary Fogerty dob 1850, dod 1902. Their children: Bridget dob 1874, dod 1911; John dob 1875, dod 1943; Michael dob 1877, dod 1959, Patrick dob 1878, dod ??; Philip L dob 1883, dod 1936; Edmund dob 1885, dod 1888; Edward dob 1891, dod 1952. I have not found a Mary as one of their children. My goal is to locate my grandfather, John Patrick O'Gorman, who claimed to be the some of John and Margaret (Dunne) Gorman of Thurles. He was born around 1900. I am not sure what if any of that information is correct, but the DNA match is encouraging. Unfortunately, I don't have enough knowledge to connect the DNA line. Anyone who would like to help Andrew and I, is most welcome and is dearly appreciated. Colleen O'Gorman

There may be others, with Ellen listed as Eleanor or Helen, for example, or with Ellen called Ellen Gorman.

Hi
I'm descended from james Gorman born 1811, in Inch near Thurles. Gorman seems to be a common name in Thurles, You say you hve done DNA, it would be interesting to compare. my brother and my Gedmatch numbers appear on James' profile at wikitree https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Gorman-1073 . Do we match? mary
