Looking to confirm a Richard Hobbs b ~1805 in Terryglass, Tipperary emigrated ~1827 to Canada, likely with family, eventually settling in London Township, Middlesex County, Ontario ~1830. Also looking for names of parents and siblings emigrating around the same time.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi Tom
Apologies for delay in finding my records
According to list of recorded births in the parish unfortunately there is no Richard Hobbs listed in Terryglass for that date or anywhere near
We do have sixteen named births of Hobbs to two different sets of parents namely Robert Hobbs and wife Mary and John Hobbs and wife Biddy (Bridget?) born between 1904 and 1924
Several Hobbs connected with Hodgins family did emigrate to Canada in the 1820s and early 30s from the area
If you wish you can email me at terryglass1@irelandxo.com perhaps we can progress it further
Regards

Hi Tom, I can confirm that Richard Hobbs from Tipperary (near Birr?) settled near the village of Birr in London Township of Middlesex County, now Ontario. He had immigrated c. 1825, which is a date he apparently supplied, and had married Elizabeth McGhee in Hamilton, Upper Canada, in 1829, so it would fit that he settled in 1830. According to his gravestone in Birr cemetery, he died October 8, 1863. My information shows he was born c. 1805. I am one of his many descendants. As for relatives, Richard Hobbs is included on a map of the area drawn by Thomas Talbot, though it is not clear if Richard Hobbs' immigration had anything to do with Talbot. Also on the map, though, is a James Hobbs, who is indicated as having located there in 1833. Any information you might have about his origins would be much appreciated. Regards, Andrew

Thanks Andrew. I have some theories about James' origins and would like to discuss via email. I can be reached at hobbs_family@roadrunner.com.
