Francis Hutchinson, born about 1780,  was a soldier in the Essex Fencibles, when his son, William Hutchinson, was born in Nenagh, about 25 June 1800. Another son John, was born in 1801/1802 in Belleek, County Donegal. The mother of these boys is unknown and she died before 1812, when he married again in England. All 3 served in the 11th Regiment of Foot.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I assume your ancestors were Church of Ireland. This link shows the status of Church of Ireland records by parish. It appears that the early Nenagh records were destroyed in the 1922 Public Records Office fire in Dublin. The Belleek records start in 1822 and are held in PRONI (The Public Records Office of Northen Ireland) in Belfast.

  • Thank you Roger, for the C of I info. All my possible dates did not survive. I am just hoping that there were other children of Francis, with descendants who might recognise the family. John died in 1820. William had a successful Army career and married later in life, so no children there. May be there were some girls?

In the same regiment [11th Foot ],there was  Samuel Hutchinson, born about 1790 in County Down, near "Castle Williams" or Hillsborough. He settled in Mullindava, Monaghan, as an army pensioner and died there in 1873. He had  children, so I may have more luck in tracing his roots and hopefully finding that he was part of the same family.
